Election Process Checklist

  • Develop an election calendar
  • Develop ballot language
  • Create an election committee to comply with reporting requirements
  • Develop a public relations plan
  • Develop message and supporting materials
  • Follow plan - should include speaking to various organizations as well as print and social media
  • Train spokespersons
  • Create list of supporters
  • Make plans for being able to offer rides to people
  • Right before or on Election Day call and remind people to vote
  • If vote is successful ensure county commissioners certify election results
  • If successful ensure that county commissioners appoint initial board
  • If applicable existing libraries need the city and/or county to pass a resolution allowing the library to join the district
