Keep the public informed

The public doesn't usually see all of the efforts that are going on behind the scenes so you will need to practice good public relations and keep them informed. Be prepared to write press releases, create publications, talk to local service organizations, and find creative ways to inform the public about what is happening. Don't be afraid to tell them about all of the administrative things you are doing to get the district up and running. Most people don't find setting up accounting structures, etc. really interesting but keeping them informed lets them know that you ARE doing something.
